TxDOT, in cooperation with local and regional officials, is responsible for planning, designing, building, operating and maintaining the state's transportation system. Our goals are to:

* reduce congestion,

* enhance safety,

* expand economic opportunity,

* improve air quality, and

* increase the value of transportation assets.

TxDOT works to achieve these goals through four strategies:

* using all financial options to build transportation projects,

* empowering local leaders to solve local transportation problems,

* increasing competition to drive down costs, and

* demanding consumer-driving decisions.

We also register motor vehicles, provide travel information, license automobile dealers and oversee many other programs and services.

In 1951, business leaders in the ready-mixed concrete industry decided there was greater strength in numbers and established the Texas Ready Mixed Concrete Association. A year later, the Texas Aggregates Association was organized. After operating for 22 years as a joint effort, with shared office and staff the two groups consolidated in 1974 as the Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association. TACA is a non-profit corporation with tax-exempt status as defined by Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations promulgated there under.

The purpose of the association is to serve its members. To accomplish this, we have eight committees plus two standing committees (Nomination, and Budget and Finance).

The committee members meet throughout the year to direct TACA's activities.

Today, TACA is recognized as one of the outstanding trade associations of its type in the nation. The reasons? First, because TACA offers an array of member services unequaled by other associations of its type. Second, because TACA is truly a member-run organization. Third, because TACA represents a true working relationship between the aggregate, concrete, cement, admixtures, fibers and allied industries. Additionally, our membership provides an associate classification for allied supplier companies. It is a well-known fact that more can be achieved through group action than by individual effort. Henry Ford put it this way:

"Coming together is a beginning.
Staying together is progress.
Working together is success."
